Le prestigieux concours international de violon débute aujourd’hui, mercredi 27 mai, à Montréal, réunissant 24 jeunes violonistes venus du monde entier. Tous les concurrents sont désormais arrivés à Montréal et la compétition entre officiellement dans sa première étape.

Avec des interprètes reconnus pour leur virtuosité et leur sens musical, cette édition promet une compétition particulièrement relevée. Les 24 participants ont également partagé un moment d’unité en interprétant ensemble Liebesfreud de Fritz Kreisler.

Maison symphonique

Pour la première fois, la finale sera présentée en deux étapes distinctes.

3 juin — Finale Mozart

Les cinq finalistes interpréteront l’un des quatre premiers concertos pour violon de Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

4 juin — Grande finale et cérémonie de clôture

Les trois grands finalistes monteront de nouveau sur scène pour interpréter un concerto pour violon de leur choix. Le grand lauréat ou la grande lauréate du Concours 2026 sera dévoilé à l’issue de la soirée.

L’orchestre officiel du Concours est l’Orchestre symphonique de Montréal, dirigé par le chef autrichien Sascha Goetzel.

The prestigious international violin competition begins today, Wednesday, May 27, in Montreal, bringing together 24 young violinists from around the world. All competitors have now arrived in Montreal as the competition officially enters its opening round.

Featuring performers known for both virtuosity and musical artistry, this year’s edition promises an exceptionally high level of competition. The 24 participants also shared a moment of unity by performing Liebesfreud together, composed by Fritz Kreisler.

Maison symphonique

For the first time, the Final Round will be presented in two separate stages.

June 3 — Mozart Round

The five finalists will perform one of the first four violin concertos by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

June 4 — Grand Final & Closing Ceremony

The top three finalists will return to the stage to perform a violin concerto of their choice. The Grand Laureate of the 2026 Competition will be announced at the end of the evening.

The official orchestra of the competition is the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal, conducted by Austrian conductor Sascha Goetzel.
